Teaching Philosophy
As a dance teacher, my goal is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students can build strong technical foundations, explore their creativity, and discover their unique artistic voice all while cultivating a genuine love for dance. I believe in guiding students toward their fullest potential by honoring their individuality and adapting to their personal learning needs. By finding new tasks and creative strategies to push the dancers in class, students build new pathways and ways of development in their own creative practices.
I am committed to creating a space where every dancer, regardless of skill level, feels empowered to take risks, make mistakes, and grow—not just from me, but from each other. My teaching evolves continuously to remain accessible and relevant in an ever-changing world, ensuring that all learners feel seen and supported. When creating a lesson plan, the idea is that the class is always adaptable. I want to have more challenging tasks as well as simpler ones so that students who are improving well can continue to grow and stay engaged in the class. I work to find different variations of any phrase I create to help students find new ways to push themselves or advance with new skills. In class I work to break down skills and techniques in multiple ways to find the dynamics and little notes of instruction to help students fully understand. If I do not know the answer I will work and search until I find one that helps that dancer succeed. I encourage my students to cheer on their friends and to instill a sense of respect between students through partnering and teamwork exercises that involve moments where the dancers can connect with each other.
Ultimately, I want my students to leave the studio with a sense of accomplishment, discipline, and respect for themselves and others. I hope to instill in them a lifelong hunger for learning—even through failure—preparing them not only for a successful career in dance, but for life beyond the studio.
Mission Statement
My mission is to be a catalyst in the journey of young artists by helping them prepare for greater opportunities and realize their full potential. I aim to empower individuals to share their unique voices in an ever-evolving industry that often makes them feel small or unseen. Through empathy, openness, and commitment to creative connection, I encourage artists to embrace new possibilities and build meaningful relationships. Regardless of background, I believe that inspiration, whether it is given or received, can unlock limitless opportunities. I choose to inspire and create alongside others, encouraging them to express their truth and artistic voice.
Artistic Statement
My art is deeply inspired by the people I collaborate with and surround myself with each day. Every individual carries a unique story, whether it be marked by distinct challenges, triumphs, and endings, I strive to honor that through movement.
Rooted in contemporary modern dance, my choreographic style is driven by the desire to express emotion and narrative through each step. I aim to create space for dancers to explore their inner worlds, allowing them to represent themselves authentically through both structured choreography and improvisation in the outer world.
I don’t just create with bodies in space, I want to work with the dancer, the person, I create with souls, minds, and lived experiences. Each piece becomes a living memory, shaped by the vulnerability and freedom of the dancers themselves. In my work, the dancer is the paintbrush, and their truth is the masterpiece.
